HIGHLIGHTS
WEEK 24 - GAME
# 1 - SIN CITY at PINEY CREEK
Designated hitter
Prince Fielder blasted 3 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the
Sin City Bounty Hunters outscored the floundering Piney
Creek Palookas 16 to 7.

Fielder was really
in 'the zone'. He cracked a solo homerun in the 1st
inning, launched a three-run homer in the 5th inning and
delivered a solo blast in the 9th inning. In between his
display of "power", The Prince set a baseball record for
eating 12 doughnuts in 1 minute and 43 seconds!
Sin City provided
plenty of action in the 5th inning with 5 runs on 4 hits.
Sin City had many opportunities throughout the game and
scored in 6 separate innings.
Francisco
Liriano(16-7) got the win allowing 5 runs in 6 and 1/3
innings. Ross Ohlendorf(2-9) was tagged with the
loss
WEEK 25 - GAME
# 1 - MICHIGAN at GEORGIA
Brandon Morrow struck out 10
batters at Crackerland Park as the Michigan Mad Dogs won
in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Georgia
Crackers by the count of 12 to 5.
Michigan bats came alive with a big
top of the 9th inning as they creamed
Georgia by blasting them with 8 runs on 6
hits.

The key at-bat was by Colby Rasmus
who deflated the crowd as he rifled a three-run blast.
Michigan managed 18 hits in their victory. Morrow (8-8),
allowing 5 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Joel
Peralta (3-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.
Morrow, when asked about his 10
strikeout performance noted, 'The important thing is that
we won, if I get 20 and we lose, what good does it do our
team? But, on the other hand, since we won it feels
great!' (Later that evening, it was reported that Morrow
had just inked a $25 million dollar endorsement deal with
Strike-Out Lawn and Garden Products).
WEEK 19 - LONG
ISLAND at MEMPHIS
Game 1 -
Carlos Gonzalez provides plenty of offense with 2 HRs
with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. The Rampage defense
doesn't help matters booting the ball 3 times. Long
Island cruises to an easy victory
Game 2 -
Memphis is led by a solo HR from Nick Swisher and a
quality start by Jamie Moyer going 6 scoreless innings.
An error by Betancourt in the ninth lets the Hounds
threaten, but they can't push the runs
across.
Game 3 -
This series concludes with a truly exciting game. The
hounds get 2 runs in the 3rd inning in part from a Carlos
Gonzalez clutch 2 out hit. The Rampage answer right back
with 2 of their own in the bottom half led by a Mike
Lowell HR. The Hounds come back in the 4th with 2 more
runs and the Rampage again answer to tie the game at 4.
The Rampage take the lead when Delwyn Young hits a HR in
the 5th inning to make it 5-4. That wouldn't hold up as
in the 7th inning RP Miguel Batista comes in and gives up
a double followed by a wild pitch and then a passed ball.
With the game tied at 5 going in to the 9th the Hounds
get a run in the top half on a double and an error on
Nick Swisher. Swisher would however get a chance to
redeem himself. With 2 outs and 1 on in the bottom of the
ninth, Swisher hits a walk off 2 run HR to make up for
his defensive blunder in the top half of the inning that
nearly cost his team the game.
WEEK 22 GAME # 3
- FORT COLLINS at CHICAGO MOB
Matt Holliday
smacked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Jorge De La Rosa
threw a 2 hit shutout at Terrapin Station where the
Chicago Mob beat the Fort Collins Force by the score of 5
to 0.
Holliday had a good
evening at the plate. He clubbed a solo home run in the
1st inning, cleared the fences for a two-run home run in
the 5th inning and laced a one-base hit in the 7th
inning. Chicago rapped out 8 hits for the night. De La
Rosa (8-2) was credited with the shutout, his first of
the year. Bruce Chen (4-2) ended up with the loss. "De La
Rosa just dominated us" losing pitcher Chen said.
"Hopefully we can get to him the next time
around"
WEEK 21 GAME # 2
- MISSISSIPPI BIG ORANGE at ANTIOCH COAL
MINERS
In a thriller the
indomitable Mississippi Big Orange staged a dramatic
comeback then held on to win over the Antioch Coal Miners
by a score of 12 to 7 at The Coal Mine.
Mississippi bats
came alive with a big 9th inning as they showed no mercy
on Antioch blasting them for 4 hits and plating 7 runs.
The biggest moment was provided by Adam Dunn who quieted
the home crowd when he lifted one out of the park for a
two run home run. Mississippi ended up with 13 hits for
the game while Antioch had 10.
The win was
credited to Rafael Betancourt (2-2) who went 1 and 2/3
innings allowing no runs. Carlos Marmol (0-2) absorbed
the loss in relief. He surrendered 5 runs and 2 hits
without retiring a batter. "It's not true... I don't care
what their Manager said. We didn't have one of our
Coaches in the Center Field stands stealing signs. We can
beat the Coal Miners with our eyes closed! And no... my
bat has never been corked! We just kept swinging the bats
and didn't give up," Troy Tulowitzki said. "If you just
keep trying good things can happen!"
WEEK 18 GAME # 1
- CONCORD GRAPE at WRIGLEY RAIDERS
Wrigley Raiders won
a dramatic crowd-pleaser over Concord Grape at Freindly
Confines pulling it out in their last at bats, 5 to
4.
The game was won by
Wrigley with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Tyler
Colvin delivered a solo blast giving Wrigley the win much
to the delight of the home town crowd. Despite losing,
Concord out-hit Wrigley 11 to 7.
Jose Contreras
(6-0) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory.
Wade Davis (3-9) was charged with the loss. He
surrendered 7 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings
WEEK 20
GAME # 2 - KONA COAST COFFEE GROWERS at GEORGIA
CRACKERS
Chase Headley blasted a grand slam
as the Georgia Crackers defeated the Kona Coast Coffee
Growers by the score of 4 to 3 at Crackerland
Park.
Georgia did all of it's offensive
work in the 5th inning as they scored 4 runs on 3 base
hits. The key at-bat was by Headley who made the crowd
happy when he hit a "Grand Salami" to the delight of his
teammates. Georgia had 11 hits for the game and Kona
Coast had 6.
Luke "Hock-a-Loogie" Hochevar (7-1)
went 7 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Jason
Frasor was credited with his 2nd save. Gavin Floyd(7-5)
took the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 11 hits and 3
walks in 8 innings.
MESSAGE FROM KENJI
JOHJIMA
Dear Kenji,
It was so nice to hear from you again. Wish you had
written earlier. I was prepared to let Adam go for the
unpardonable sin of getting TJ surgery on company time.
But he has apologized profusely and agreed to wash my car
and clean my house during his absence from the playing
field and I agreed to this arrangement. If only I had
known you were available. I'm sure you would have done a
much better job of keeping my car and house clean.

Please keep in touch.
Your former owner,
Jim

WEEK 17 - GAME 3
-- STALLIONS at GEORGIA
29,281 Redneck fans were treated
to a fine game at Crackerland Park as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Georgia
Crackers won by the slimmest of margins, 4 to
3.
The score was tied at 3 after
nine, but Georgia came out on top in the 11th inning.
After two outs were recorded in the 11th, Hideki "Yankee
Boy" Matsui drew a walk. Ichiro Suzuki was next up and he
also drew a walk. Fernando Cabrera lost his composure and
uncorked a wild pitch. Cabrera, feeling the Southern Heat
in "Hot-lanta" then threw a high and inside pitch that
got by the catcher. It was ruled a passed ball, making
Georgia the winners and sending the 7,685 fans home happy
(the other 21,596 fans left
early when Crackerland Park ran out of "Billy Beer"
in the 5th inning!). Georgia
had a total of 7 hits for the game.

Mariano Rivera (3-0) picked up
the victory, allowing no runs in 3 and 1/3 innings.
Cabrera (0-1) was a bit out of kilter and was tagged with
the loss in relief. His performance was as useful as a
pogo stick in quicksand. But, he was the hard-luck loser
as he did not allow an earned run in his 1 and 2/3
innings of work.
With this victory, Georgia
continued their winning ways as their streak now stands
at 6 games and counting. Manager Dave "Peach" Taylor was
in a very talkative mood after the ballgame.
"Damn,
Fella's, I really don't know what else I can tell
ya, cept, you know what they say... A wink is as good as
a nod, to a blind horse, and that Cabrera fella was
bringing up the rear today. But that don't matter much to
me, cause we'll take a win any way we get one. And from
my point of view, that win was huge... in fact, it was as
purty as a speckled pup under a red wagon . All I can say
is,
Damn.
All our guys over the past week or so are just playing
lights out.
Damn,
my boys, they're really are hitting on all cylinders.
Everything is working. Ya know, we keep this up and,
well, we'll be fixin' to go to the playoffs. I know it's
a long shot, but ya never know.
"Damn,
I know it can't last forever - but then again,
Damn,
it sure ain't gonna stop us
from trying!"
WEEK 25 - GAME 1
-- MISSOURI at PINEY
CREEK
A record crowd of 56,872 was on
hand to see President George Dubbya... Dubbya... Dubbya
Bush throw out the 1st pitch... and later see Ronnie
(Wanted Poster) Belliard hit one into the "cheap seats"
at Centennial Field as the Piney Creek Palookas came back
dramatically to top the Missouri Mustangs by the score of
4 to 3.
Piney Creek came through with
the game-winning runs in the 9th inning with 2 runs using
4 hits. Rajai Davis started the inning off right when he
ripped a base-knock. Jeff Fleischman then called for a
steal which was successful. Ryan Garko then doubled
bringing in a run. Adrian Beltre was up next and he
stroked a one-base hit. Kenji Johjima stepped into the
box and drew a walk to load the bases. Raul Ibanez
continued the rally and laced a base-hit giving Piney
Creek the win and sending the home town fans into a
frenzy. Piney Creek had 10 hits for the afternoon while
Missouri had 5.
Manny Corpas (5-3) was the
winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Chad Cordero (3-5)
was the loser in relief. He allowed 4 hits and 1 walk
without retiring a batter.
WANTED

(a face only a Parole Officer
could love!!)
Corpas and Belliard were really
whooping it up in the clubhouse (but without an
interpreter, nobody could understand what they were
saying. It sounded like, "El Gerente es un Idiota", but,
HA, HA, HA, HA.... THAT couldn't be right??) after the
great come from behind victory. As Jeff Fleischman noted,
'A win like this one can do wonders for a team's
attitude.' Everyone shares in the joy - the fans, the
players - even you guys (despite all the ugly lies and
rumors that you guys have been writing about us all year
in your papers, said Fleischman) - It's better than
winning by a dozen runs!'

WEEK 20 - GAME 2
-- CHICAGO MOB at ALBANY INTERNATIONALS
Barry Bonds slammed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at
Marveldome as the Albany Internationals beat the Chicago
Mob in 12 innings by the count of 6 to 5.
Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine
innings. Albany won it in the 12th inning. Albert Pujols
led off the inning for Albany when he laced a base-knock.
Bonds came to the plate and cleared the fences for a
two-run home run (his 33rd of the season) making Albany
the winners and sending the 47,063 fans home happy on
Barry Bonds (INFLATABLE) Bobble-Head Night. Both teams
ended up with 12 hits on the night.
Francisco Cordero (5-0) allowed 1 run in 2 innings,
and picked up the victory. Saul Rivera (1-2) was the
losing pitcher in relief. He was unable to retire a
batter giving up 1 hit and no walks.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WEEK 14 - GAME # 3 ---
ITALIAN STALLIONS at PINEY CREEK PALOOKAS
Right fielder Andre Ethier slammed 2 homeruns at
Centennial Field as the Piney Creek Palookas belted the
Italian Stallions by the count of 14 to 3.
Ethier enjoyed a great evening at the plate. He
slapped a single in the 2nd inning, electrified the crowd
with a Grand Slam home run in the 3rd inning and popped a
two-run clout over the fence in the 5th inning. Piney
Creek totaled 13 hits on the night.
Ross Ohlendorf (6-8) was the winner allowing no runs
in 5 innings. Billy Buckner (1-1) suffered the loss. He
got hit hard, allowing 7 hits and 2 walks in 4
innings.
"For some reason I can't explain, I was REALLY
SEEING THE BALL WELL TONIGHT.

I had good swings tonight,' Ethier said, 'For some
reason, everything I did and how I saw and hit
the ball felt great... and it started happening right
after I took those vitamins that Brian gave me".
UPDATE.... New Palooka team member,
Brian Stokes is under investigation for dispensing
Dianabol, Deca Durabolin, Testosterone (propionate,
enanthate, cypionate), Anadrol, Sustanon 250, Trenbolone
and Equipoise. After the Piney Creek team swept the Boys
from St. Louis 3 games to 0 games. Stokes was quoted as
saying... "I just want to fit in.... I just want the guys
on my team to like me".

THE
"BIG
HURT" HITS
G.U.S.S.O.M.O. HOME RUN
# 500!

May 29th, 2008 -- In the 2nd game of a three game set at
Antioch, The Chicago Mob's Frank Thomas clubbed his
500th home run. The historic
clout came as Frank led off the 6th inning vs. relief
pitcher (and former Mobster) Josh Towers. The homer gave The
Mob a 5-4 lead, which they were unable to hold, losing 9-5.
"Frank's been sort of a forgotten man as his career winds
down", said Mob manager Fred Turtle. "It's great that he was
able to reach this milestone". "I'm glad it's over with",
said Thomas. "I wish it could have been at home in front of
the Mob fans that have been so supportive of me, but I'll
take it. I know I can still contribute to this team".
This is the 2nd such milestone to be reached by a career
Chicago Mobster this season as Curt Schilling reached the
3,000 strikeout mark earlier.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CURT
SCHILLING RECORDS HIS 3,000th G.U.S.S.O.M.O STRIKEOUT FOR
THE CHICAGO MOB!!
Curt Schilling, in a long and
sometimes rocky career with The Chicago Mob has reached the
3000 K milestone. This was accomplished in game three of the
Fenway/Chicago series. The victim was Nick Markakis, leading
off the inning.

The Faithful won the game, however
5-3 to salvage one game in the three game series. This is
Schillings 18th season with Chicago. He got the loss (150th
of his career) to go along with 197 career wins. He also
allowed his 417th, 418th and 419th home runs of his career
in the game
A NOTE ABOUT OUR LEAGUE
The
one constant through all the years, Guys, has been
G.U.S.S.O.M.O. Many Strat-O Leagues have
rolled by like an Army of steamrollers. They have
been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased
again.
But
then there is G.U.S.S.O.M.O.
Our
League, G.U.S.S.O.M.O., has "marked the
time." This League, This Game, is a part of our
past, Guys. It reminds us of all that once was
good, and that could be again. Oh... our managers
and people will come, Guys. Our managers and people
will most definitely come to
Detroit.
See
all you Guys in a couple of days at our League
Get-Together!
